As we enter the quiet beauty of Advent, our hearts turn toward waiting—waiting for Christ, waiting for peace, waiting for the fulfillment of God’s promises. Yet this sacred season is not a passive one. Advent calls us to watchfulness, courage and compassion. It invites us not only to prepare our own hearts, but also to stand with those whose hearts are burdened by injustice, violence, poverty and exclusion.
December 10 marks Human Rights Day, a global reminder that every person is created in the image of God and deserving of dignity, safety, freedom and love. As Felician Sisters, associates, employees and friends, we carry in our mission the responsibility to build a more just world — one where human rights are honored, voices are heard and the vulnerable are never forgotten.
Advent is hope. But hope is not quiet.
Hope is active. Hope advocates.
Hope reaches out to the margins and says: You are seen. You are loved. You belong.
This month, we are invited to reflect more deeply:
How can your holiday season reflect God’s justice and mercy for the marginalized?
• Perhaps it is through prayer.
• Perhaps it is through giving.
• Perhaps it is by speaking up when others cannot.
• Perhaps it is by choosing presence over comfort, compassion over convenience.
May this season awaken in us a renewed commitment to solidarity.
May we recognize Christ in every person — especially those suffering or silenced.
And may our preparation for His coming be visible in the love we live and the justice we seek.
