Encountering God Through Art

October 11 @ 6:00 pm October 13 @ 11:00 am EDT

Check-in from 3pm on Friday

By Sister Judith Marie Blizzard and Sister Jane Mary Gawlik

Join us for a retreat that invites you to encounter God through art as a form of prayer, embracing our creative nature made in His image.

During the retreat, you’ll explore different ways to pray with scripture and use various art mediums—such as clay, pen and ink, pencils, watercolors, and natural materials—for reflection. The schedule is flexible, with presentations and art-based prayer experiences throughout the day, allowing time for personal reflection, sharing and exploring Maryville’s grounds to draw inspiration from nature’s beauty.

No artistic ability is required, and all supplies are provided.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
