As followers of the nonviolent Jesus and St. Francis of Assisi, and as women striving to be prophetic witnesses in a world in need of healing, the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Felix of Cantalice (Felician Sisters) stands in solidarity with millions of people around the globe who are alarmed and deeply troubled by the escalation of war and violence in our world.
Through prayer and action, the Felician Sisters are committed to building peace and fostering reconciliation in our communities and beyond.
Reflection:
How can you offer a Marian prayer for peace in your family, neighborhood or community today?
“Give aid to all without exception, for everyone is our neighbor.” With these words, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska—living in Poland and Foundress of the Felician Sisters—sent her sisters out following a battle with Russia to care for wounded soldiers, both Polish and Russian. She did so knowing that some of these same Russian soldiers may have harmed or killed the fathers or brothers of her sisters.
Through prayer, unwavering faith and trust in God, we implore our global leaders to take immediate measures to protect every human being, created in the image of God and endowed with the inalienable right to pursue life in peace and freedom.
Practical Actions for This Month:
- Pray the Rosary for peace in our world or for a specific country affected by war.
- View a music video of Reba McEntire performing Pray for Peace.
- Watch a YouTube video of the Litany of Loreto and pray along.
- Visit the Pax Christi website. Pax Christi is an international Catholic movement for peace, justice, and reconciliation, founded in France in 1945 to foster reconciliation between the French and German peoples after World War II. Today, Pax Christi is a global organization promoting nonviolence, human rights, disarmament, and the transformation of injustice through prayer, education and action. Pax Christi groups exist in most states.
Let us take at least one intentional step this month to help bring peace to our world.
