On Sunday, February 2, the Felician Sisters welcomed Catherine Rotterman as a postulant at her Rite of Acceptance during a Eucharistic liturgy at the Provincial House in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.
Katie is from Lancaster, New York, and most recently resided in Hyattsville, Maryland, where she was employed by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in the Secretariat of Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth. After a period of inquiry, Katie became a candidate on August 17, 2018, signaling her desire to pursue life as a Felician Sister, and has since spent time with us in prayer, conversation and ministry, while maintaining her own residency and occupation.
Postulancy is the third step in the formation process for Felician Sisters. It is a transitional period of formation in which a woman begins to experience living with us in community.
At the end of her Rite of Acceptance, provincial minister Sr. Mary Christopher Moore presented Katie with a tau cross to remind her of her commitment to deepen her baptismal call to follow Christ as she learns the way of life of the Felician Congregation.
Katie will reside at Mother of the Eucharist Convent in Laredo, Texas, during her postulancy. Under the guidance of Sr. Christina Marie Conroy, director of postulants, she will live and minister in community with the Felician Sisters.
