The Felician Sisters of Our Lady of Hope Province gather every six years to elect new leadership. Forty-eight Felician Sisters gathered at Mother of Good Counsel Convent in Chicago, Illinois, during the third week of June 2021 for the Chapter of Elections. These delegates represented sisters from across the province as they elected a new provincial minister and five councilors.
Sr. Judith Marie Kubicki, Ph.D., was elected the new provincial minister. Returning to the provincial council for a second six-year term will be Sr. Janet Marie Adamczyk, Sr. Suzanne Marie Kush and Sr. Mary Rosita Brennan. New members of the council include Sr. Mary Sharon Iacobucci from Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, and Sr. Nancy Marie Piecewicz, from Enfield, Connecticut. The provincial council will serve as an executive leadership team and advisory board to Sr. Judith Marie Kubicki.
When Sr. Mary Christopher Moore was elected the first provincial minister in 2009, she was faced with the formidable task of building unity among the Felician Sisters across the continent. She had no roadmap to follow, but she did have a vision for the future of the Felician Sisters. It would require hard work, transformation, and above all, faith, but the result is a community of sisters equipped to evolve with the changing needs of the world.
We are grateful to Sr. Christopher and the provincial councilors who have served Our Lady of Hope Province for the past six years: Sr. Constance Marie Tomyl, Sr. Mary Geralyn Mroczkowski, Sr. Mary Jolene Jasinski, and Sr. Michelle Marie Stachowiak. We are grateful to them for their dedicated service.
Please keep our sisters in your prayers as we transition to this new leadership team. May the Holy Spirit guide the way as we carve out a path for the next six years, always evolving to meet the needs of the time and expand our ministries according to Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where we are needed.”
