Thanks to a generous donation from PagerDuty, each woman living in St. Felix House in Toronto, Canada, now has her own computer station. The women will use the computers to access classes, create resumes, search for jobs and build life skills.
St. Felix House, an extension of the St. Felix Centre ministry, is a transitional housing program for women who are experiencing or are at risk of experiencing homelessness. Residents can stay up to one year, during which they receive individualized support, including time with an assigned case worker and employment counselor.
Residents also have access to the One Stop Program, which helps them achieve their career goals by offering job opportunities to build their resumes and access to funding for job training. Many of the women who have participated in the One Stop Program have gone on to secure long-term employment stemming from their One Stop placement.
St. Felix House has housed 98 women since its opening in 2012, with the goal of assisting residents into independent living. This generous gift of technology will help the ministry provide even more assistance to women in need.
