Gala Honors, Supports and Empowers Families

St. Anne's Family Services hosts the 44th "Evening of Angels" Gala.

On Saturday, April 13, 2024, the Taglyan Cultural Complex in Hollywood, California was abuzz with excitement as St. Anne’s Family Services hosted their 44th Annual “Evening of Angels” Gala Event. This celebration of esteemed honorees included both silent and live auctions, along with a performance by multi-platinum singer-songwriter, Andy Grammer. Distinguished attendees included Sr. Theresa Francis Marie De Feo and ministry advisor, Bridget Armstrong from FSI, both representing the Felician Sisters of North America, who are proud sponsors of this ministry.

The Gala’s significance extended beyond an evening of glamour; its proceeds directly support the vital social service programs offered by St. Anne’s Family Services. These encompass a wide spectrum, from supportive housing to early childhood education, mental health services and workforce development initiatives.

Since its inception in 1908 as a modest 12-bed maternity home, St. Anne’s Family Services has evolved into a cornerstone of support for families throughout Los Angeles County. Their commitment to guiding individuals through various life stages, irrespective of faith or background, remains steadfast. Today, St. Anne’s adapts to the evolving needs of the community, embodying their mission to assist young women, children, and families in need.

In 2021, St. Anne’s transitioned from sponsorship by the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart to the Felician Sisters of North America. This union reinforces St. Anne’s dedication to building safe, nurturing, and resilient families for generations to come.

“We believe being part of the Felician Sisters community of ministries helps strengthen our commitment to our families and community members who come to us from diverse racial, ethnic and faith backgrounds,” said Lorna Little, President and CEO of the 114-year old organization. “We are thrilled to have had such empowering and forward-thinking leadership with the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart for more than 80 years, and we look forward to the next phase of our journey with the Felicians.”

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
