Who Then Shall We Be? A Contemplative Prayer for the World

Join LCWR and the Felician Sisters of North America for an online prayer experience.

The Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) and the Felician Sisters of North America (FSNA) invite all to participate in a transformative online contemplative experience, “Who Then Shall We Be? A Contemplative Prayer for the World,” on Friday, August 16 from 2 – 3 p.m. ET. This event aims to unite participants in reflection and solidarity addressing global challenges through prayer and contemplation.

The prayer experience, part of the LCWR assembly in Orlando, FL, gathers approximately 700 participants to reflect on our response to the world’s fragility in light of the Gospel message. Through arts, readings and reflective questions, attendees will engage in a process of lamentation focusing on global issues such as climate change, racism, migration and polarization.

The event will be livestreamed, welcoming participation from anyone interested in joining this collective prayer and reflection.

How to Participate

Individuals and groups are welcome to participate.  If possible, participants are encouraged to experience this reflection process in groups for a more powerful impact. Consider gathering in large meeting spaces or organizing small group discussions following the contemplative session. Extend invitations to parishes, organizations and others interested in joining this global prayer effort. The important thing is to participate!

We believe in contemplative, respectful dialogue as a means of expressing differences.  We recognize that the future of our national and global communities is dependent upon being able to live in peace and to appreciate diversity. We desire to respond to today’s signs as bearers of the Gospel message. We are united with LCWR and we will participate in the LCWR, Who Then Shall We Be? Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
