A Giving Friend

Sister Mary Fidelis from the Lodi Mother House and worked at Sacred Heart in South Amboy and St. Stanislaus Kostka in NJ was a wonderful person in every way. Her giving spirit from the physical giving of anything and everything she had until the day of her death (example of taking poverty vow seriously) to her deep prayer life and true friend with always a ear to listen and an uncanny ability to know just when a phone call would be helpful. She was our “adopted” family member and she would call us family. I had the pleasure of having her as a principal, co-worker later in my early teaching career, and as a friend for decades. She was a true gift to all who met her.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
