“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” – Matthew 5:9
As Felician Sisters and partners in mission, we are deeply grieved by the recent escalation of violence following the United States’ military strikes in Iran. In moments of growing tension and suffering, we turn to the Gospel and our Franciscan heritage, which call us to be instruments of peace and advocates for human dignity.
We pray for the victims, families and communities affected by these events—both in the Middle East and around the world. We hold in our hearts the innocent who bear the burden of conflict not of their making, and we stand in solidarity with all those who work tirelessly for justice, diplomacy and reconciliation.
In the spirit of Blessed Mary Angela and in alignment with Catholic social teaching, we call on all leaders to seek paths of nonviolence, dialogue and peacebuilding. We echo the words of Pope Francis, who reminds us that “war is always a defeat for humanity.”
Let us, as a Felician family, continue to pray and act for peace—in our hearts, in our communities and across the globe.
