The Feast of Our Lady of Hope was especially joyful this year as the province welcomed two new sisters. Lan Kim Trinh was received as a novice, and Sister Anna Quyen Pham is beginning the transfer process. Their prayerful journeys and desire to serve those in need have led them to take these meaningful steps with the Felician Sisters.
The petitioning ceremony took place on the evening of Friday, January 16, at the Provincial House in Beaver Falls, PA. The prayer service included the customary Act of Consecration to Mary and the Litany of Loreto, interspersed with the song “Ubi Caritas.” On the following evening, January 17, Solemn Evening Prayer included the Rite of Initiation and the Rite of Welcome to the Process of Transfer.
During the Rite of Welcome to the Process of Transfer, Sister Anna Pham received the Tau Cross as a sign of her discernment of a Franciscan vocation to live simply and humbly. She also received a candle as a sign of her intention to embrace the Felician way of life. Originally from Vietnam, Sister Anna has lived religious life for many years as a nurse and educator in the congregation known as Lover’s of the Holy Cross. At this point in her life, she believes she is being called to the Felician Sisters’ mission of mercy and service to those in need.

During the Rite of Initiation into Religious Life, Lan Kim Trinh received the white veil and the name Sister Maria Teresa as signs of her intention to embrace the Felician way of life. Born in Vietnam, Sister Maria Teresa brings a remarkable life journey and years of experience in religious life and education. She felt called to the Felician Sisters through their joyful, compassionate service to people in need.
Sisters throughout the province, along with family members and friends, witnessed this beautiful celebration. We invite you to keep Sisters Anna and Maria Teresa in your prayers as they continue their discernment journeys.
