Sister Helen Prejean to Visit Felician Universities and College

Sister Helen will visit Felician University, Villa Maria College and Madonna University to engage students and communities in dialogue on justice and human dignity.

This spring, the Felician-sponsored college and universities will welcome Sister Helen Prejean CSJ, internationally recognized author and advocate for the abolition of the death penalty. She will visit Felician University on March 16, Villa Maria College on March 18, and Madonna University on March 19, engaging students, faculty, and members of the wider community in thoughtful dialogue on justice and human dignity.

Best known for her groundbreaking book “Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States,” Sister Helen will share reflections from her decades of ministry accompanying death row inmates and the families of victims. Her presentations will invite audiences to consider the moral complexities of the justice system and the call to uphold the dignity of every human life, encouraging thoughtful engagement with issues of social justice grounded in faith.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
