Education and Youth Empowerment

Empowering young people to grow in faith, knowledge and compassion while discovering the wonder of God’s creation.

Education empowers individuals to build a future filled with hope and opportunity. The Felician Sisters offer Catholic-Franciscan education to children and young adults from early childhood through K-12, including two Montessori schools, as well as two institutions of higher learning. Through these ministries students are prepared for lives of Christian leadership, stewardship and service.

All Felician-sponsored are guided by the core values for ministry: respect for human dignity, compassion, transformation, solidarity with those in need, and justice and peace. Our educational programs foster loving and nurturing environments where students of all ages can grow physically, intellectually, and emotionally.

Reflection:

Consider how you can encourage learning and curiosity within your community.

God’s creation offers a rich opportunity to reflect on the diversity and uniqueness of all living things, including each person. One of our sisters who recently passed away spent time each day sitting on her scooter, delighting in the differences among the trees, the tiny flowering weeds and the ever-changing cloud formations. Her observations reflected a deep sense of wonder and, joyful connection to all the simple, God-given things around her.

Practical Actions for This Month
  • Pick up a book to read or listen to an audiobook.
  • Take a walk or ride outside and thank God for at least five things in nature you find beautiful.
  • Spend five minutes outside each day simply observing the world around you.
  • If you live near a school, senior or community center or library, consider volunteering your time and talents.
Prayer Intention

Let us pray for the youth in our schools and throughout our nation that they may live their lives with a hope, purpose and a desire to make the world a better place.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
