The Felician Sisters reverence and honor the dignity of every person and all creation. We advocate for the end of child and forced labor and uphold the principles of Laudato Si` by caring for all God’s creation.
Reflection
For more than three decades, the Fair Trade label has consistently meant that a buyer is purchasing a product produced without child labor and produced in a manner respectful of God’s creation.
There are internationally agreed-upon standards for a product to be considered Fair Trade. These standards prohibit child labor and require employers to protect the basic rights of their employees, including providing decent working conditions and paying wages that are consistent with the living wage of that country. There are also standards regarding environmental sustainability including protecting biodiversity and prohibiting deforestation and contamination of local water sources.
