“The Felician Difference” Vocation Reflection
By: Sr. Mary Faith Balawejder
I sensed that I wanted to become a sister around age 10. I didn’t hear God calling. I was just attracted to the sisters and thought I wanted to become one someday. The desire continued through high school, along with a sense of wanting to love God more and serve others. I had to decide which order to choose. Since I had Felician Sisters in grade school and members of another community in high school – I loved them both. God nudged me closer toward the Felician community, I think because of the Franciscan connection.
I continue to thank God each day for calling me to grow in relationship with Him, my sisters, those whom I meet and with all of creation. I see differently, listen more curiously, love more deeply and continue to be amazed at God’s working in and through me, in every person and amid creation. What brings me great joy is realizing that transformation is happening within and around me. Prayer, living with an open mind and heart, coping with everyday challenges with the help of God and others, sharing experiences and having fun continue to give me new life. Who I most deeply am is Franciscan-Felician!
