St. Felix Pantry, a ministry of the Felician Sisters of North America, is the only food pantry still open in and around Rio Rancho, New Mexico. On Thursday, March 26, St. Felix Pantry served 189 guests. On Friday, they served 139. When the Police Department receives calls from home-bound senior citizens in need of supplies, they contact St. Felix Pantry to provide assistance. In one day, the Mobile Pantry made 82 deliveries.
According to Sr. M. Angela Parkins, president and CEO, St. Felix Pantry has been able to remain open because of volunteers who are committed to serving the community in this time of crisis. They have also partnered with the Mayor of Rio Rancho, Gregg Hull, to serve senior citizens who are in social isolation due to COVID-19.
With some adjustments in scheduling and procedure to protect the staff, volunteers and guests, St. Felix Pantry continues to serve the most vulnerable of the community, but they are in dire need of donations to continue their work.
