When the quarantine began, Sr. Paul Marie Baczkowski, local minister at Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent, and Sr. Mary Lorianne Tylczynski, local minister at Blessed Mary Angela Convent, both in Buffalo, New York, wanted to do something for the workers on the front line of the coronavirus pandemic.
Along with the chef from Ilio DiPaolo a restaurant in Blasdell, New York, the sisters had 70 dinners delivered to Mercy Hospital in South Buffalo: chicken, spaghetti, salad and a roll with butter. The sisters received a gracious thank you from Mercy Hospital’s mission coordinator, John Kalinowski, for this generous gift.
In addition to the operation of several ministries of the Felician Sisters of North America in the Buffalo area (Villa Maria College, Sr. Josette Food Pantry and the Response to Love Center), our Sisters serve in pastoral roles in local parishes, in prison ministry at Attica, as educators in local schools and in a myriad of other roles in ministry to their communities. This area also operates an active chapter of the Felician Associates, lay men and women who share in the charism of the Felician Sisters.
