Thanks in large part to the hard work of Administrator of Health Care Services Beth Ann Haseley and John Beyer, President and CEO of the Life Pace Program, the Felician Sisters at Blessed Mary Angela and Immaculate Heart of Mary Convents in Buffalo, NY, were finally able to receive their COVID-19 vaccines.
After four months in the isolation of quarantine, the death of six beloved sisters, and watching 23 other recover, the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine arrived and 44 resident Sisters received their first vaccination.
Mr. Beyer arrived with the vaccines, accompanied by ten nurses from Catholic Health who came to register the candidates, administer the vaccines, and tend to the needs of the recipients during the 15-minute observation after the vaccine. The second dose of vaccines will be administered to all the recipients on Holy Thursday, April 1.
The Sisters want to extend their thanks to all those who helped make this possible through prayer, calls, and emails. Special thanks also goes out to Jay Tokasz of The Buffalo News and George Richert of WIVB Channel 4 who used their voices in the media to help shine a light on the Sisters’ needs.
Our prayers go out to all those who are still waiting for their vaccines. May God watch over you and keep you safe.
