Felician Values for Ministry: A Timeless Compass for Mission

In a world marked by change and challenge, the Felician Sisters of North America remain rooted in values that transcend time and circumstance.

The five core values—Respect for Human Dignity, Compassion, Transformation, Solidarity with Those in Need, and Justice and Peace—are the pillars of the Felician mission, providing a compass that guides every facet of our ministry.

Respect for Human Dignity
We hold a deep reverence for the inherent dignity of every person, affirming the sacredness of all life. This commitment calls us to protect and promote the unique gifts of each individual embodying the love of Christ in all we do.

Compassion
Compassion compels us to extend care and service to others with empathetic hearts. As Pope Francis reminds us in his World Day of Peace message, we are called to confront structures of sin that exploit the poor and harm our shared home. In this spirit, we reflect God’s boundless love in action.

Transformation
Change is both a challenge and an opportunity. Inspired by the theme of Jubilee 2025, “Pilgrims of Hope,” we embrace transformation as a path toward renewal—for ourselves, for those we serve and for the communities entrusted to our care. In every moment of transition, we find the grace to grow in hope, patience and faith.

Solidarity with Those in Need
Walking alongside the vulnerable and marginalized, we are reminded of our call to unity and action. As the Jubilee emphasizes, this solidarity extends to caring for creation and advocating for systemic change, ensuring no one is left behind in the journey toward justice and peace.

Justice and Peace
Through right relationships, the pursuit of the common good and stewardship of creation, we strive to build a sustainable and peaceful world. This commitment aligns with Pope Francis’ vision for the Jubilee Year—a call to restore relationships with God, one another, and the environment.

A Year of Peace and Renewal
As we begin the new year, the World Day of Peace on January 1 served as a profound reminder of our mission to foster compassion, justice, and peace. Pope Francis’ message, “Forgive us our trespasses: grant us your peace,” invites us to reflect deeply on forgiveness and reconciliation as pathways to lasting peace.

Simultaneously, the Jubilee Year 2025, opening on Christmas Eve, offers an extraordinary opportunity for spiritual renewal. Rooted in the Jewish tradition of jubilee, this Holy Year calls us to reconciliation, hope and action. Through pilgrimage, prayer and service, we are invited to rediscover the value of simplicity, silence and interconnectedness.

Living the Felician Mission
Through these sacred moments and milestones, the Felician values continue to inspire and guide us. In our work, we are united by faith, compelled by love and empowered by hope. Whether caring for creation, advocating for justice or offering compassionate service, we remain steadfast in our mission to witness to the presence of Christ in the world.

As we journey together into this Jubilee Year and beyond, let us embrace the opportunities for renewal and transformation. Let us continue “to serve where needed,” one act of love at a time.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
