Hope House opens its doors in Toronto, offering safe, affordable, and supportive housing for women and children rebuilding their lives.

St. Felix Centre in Toronto, ON recently celebrated the opening of Hope House, a new permanent housing development offering 31 deeply affordable, supportive units for women and women with children experiencing homelessness or fleeing intimate partner violence.

The building includes barrier-free units and dedicated spaces for Indigenous women, reflecting the Centre’s commitment to inclusion. Already, 17 units have been assigned—five to single mothers with children and one to a young expectant mother. For the first resident to arrive, the moment was unforgettable: “I was overwhelmed with joy. I was the first person to arrive, and all the staff were clapping and cheering as I came in. Everyone was just as excited as I was—and I recognized every face.”

More than a place to live, Hope House offers residents access to caseworkers, community resources, and supportive programming. It marks a new beginning for women rebuilding their lives and striving toward independence and stability.

Hope House has been years in the making and will have a lasting impact on the community for years to come.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
