Volunteers in Mission and Felician Sisters Shine at The FEST

Thousands gathered in Ohio for a sunny day of faith, family, and fun at The FEST.

The sun was shining and the spirit of community filled the air at The FEST near Cleveland, OH on the first Sunday in August. The Felician Sisters were once again grateful to be part of this yearly celebration of faith, family and fun.

This year, the Volunteers in Mission (VIM) summer volunteers brought great energy to the Felician booth. They helped run the ever-popular spin-the-prize wheel, which drew a steady crowd throughout the day. Attendees took home an array of fun Felician and Maryville giveaways—tote bags, sunglasses, twist fans, koozies, zip pouches and more.

The summer VIM volunteers enjoyed every moment—not only serving at the booth but also immersing themselves in the full FEST experience. They were especially thrilled to see Danny Gokey, who headlined the concert lineup alongside Maverick City Music, Ben Fuller and Seph Schlueter. Every time Gokey passed by in a golf cart, the VIM crew waved excitedly, one of the many fun highlights.

Visitors were also able to chat with several sisters in attendance—Sr. Judy Marie Blizzard, Sr. Melanie Marie Bajorek, Sr. Mary Bernadette Kapfer, Sr. Felicity Marie Madigan, Sr. Grace Marie Del Priore, and visiting sister, Sr. Maria Theresa Lan Kim Trinh, FMSR—and learn more about vocation opportunities and the work of the Felician Sisters. Maryville Retreat Center staff were also there, spreading the word about its peaceful location in Holly, MI, and the retreats and events that they offer.

With thousands of people in attendance and a beautiful summer day, The FEST reminded us all of the joy that comes from sharing faith and being together.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
