Sister Shannon Maureen Fox with the Provincial Council

In the past few weeks, Our Lady of Hope Province had the occasion to rejoice in the perpetual professions of Sister Shannon Maureen Fox and Sister Agnes Maria Trojnar!

Sister Shannon completed her three year process of transferring from the Sisters of St. Joseph Third Order of St. Francis and making her profession as a Felician Sister on Monday, August 11, the feast of St. Clare of Assisi, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Convent Chapel in Coraopolis, PA. Rev. Samuel Esposito, a Felician Associate in western PA, was the celebrant and the homilist. The theme for the celebration for Sister Shannon was: A new commandment I give you, love one another.

Prior to the entrance processing, three sisters from the Sisters of St. Joseph blessed Sister Shannon in song and words as she made her transition from them to us. They were then invited by Sister Suzanne Marie Kush, the Director of Formation, to lead the gathered Felician Sisters and Sister Shannon in procession to the chapel while Psalm 45 was recited by all.

Six days later, on Sunday, August 17, the province again gathered to witness the perpetual profession of Sister Agnes Maria Trojnar at Our Lady of Hope Provincial House Chapel in Beaver Falls, PA. Rev. Richard Mucowski, OFM was the celebrant and homilist, assisted by Rev. William Schwartz, provincial house chaplain, as concelebrant. The theme for Sister Agnes’ commitment was: Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the wedding feast of the Lamb has come, His bride has prepared herself.

Sister Agnes Maria Trojnar professes her perpetual vows

In the name of Sister Danat Marie Brysch, minister general, Sister Judith Marie Kubicki accepted the vows of both sisters in their respective ceremonies. While both ceremonies were similar in their ritual and format, the particular culture and style of each sister was represented in their choice of joyful and meaningful hymns and music. The singing of the traditional Magnificat at the end of each ceremony expressed the gratitude, joy and happiness that each member of Our Lady of Hope Province felt for the gift of the vocations of Sisters Agnes Maria and Shannon Maureen. We look forward to the perpetual commitment of Sister Gabriella Maria Ianieri on September 30 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent Chapel in Buffalo, NY.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
