God’s Marvelous Deeds

The Felician Sisters in New England and Eastern New York, 1976–2009

“God’s Marvelous Deeds” tells the story of the Felician Sisters in New England and eastern New York from 1976 to 2009, a time of significant change for the Congregation and the Church. Through stories of the sisters who taught, cared for the sick and served their communities in countless ways, the book celebrates their faith and commitment to the Felician mission. It traces their journey of hope through changing times and declining numbers, culminating in the establishment of Our Lady of Hope Province in 2009. It honors the many Sisters whose lives and service continue to bear witness to God’s marvelous deeds.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
